Thomas J. Sheehan Insurance officially started in 1996 when Mr. Sheehan and his son-in-law, James C. Hamrick, left Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton to form a new independent agency. The foundation of our agency dates back to 1956 when Mr. Sheehan joined Atlantic Mutual before becoming a partner in the John Peters Agency. This agency became Dixon, Sheehan & Titus, which was a mainstay in the insurance industry for many years. Mr. Sheehan was the President of this agency until its merger with Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton, where he was C.O.O. of the Savannah operation. Throughout his career Mr. Sheehan expressed a strong commitment to the Independent Insurance Agency business. He felt that the service, expertise and attention provided by Independent Agents are vital to the insurance industry and the local community.
After a brief illness, Mr. Sheehan passed away on March 17th, 2010. His commitment to his family, his community and his industry was evident in everything that he touched. His legacy lives on in the successful agency that he founded.
The agency is owned and operated today by the Founder’s son-in-law, daughter and nephew. The next generation of leadership possesses a unique skillset and industry experience that is best suited to match the needs of our clients. Experiences include years of underwriting at large multinational insurance companies, insurance brokerage firms and consumer product sales.
